Ambitious conference seeks to hammer out global arms trade treaty - CNN.com

I'm just wondering if any knows what effect it will have on us if any.

Here's Dick Morris's thoughts on the subject if anyone cares to watch.

Are Morris's statements really possible?

No he is not...

This has been disproven on many websites.

My father and father in law both keep repeating stories on how Obama has restricted gun sales, passed hand gun laws, etc. When I ask them where they hear this they always quote FOX news and Rush Limbaugh.

I never read about these crimes by Obama in Guns and Ammo, ShotGun News or other publications.

Have to consider the source.

Dick Morris is a bloated idiot. No treaty can supersede the constitution. How do you guys ever get into this tin foil hat stuff? Black helicopters, the UN is building concentration camps, bla bla bla. I have heard if for years from all the usual suspects and they need lithiam.

Exactly. The NRA, Faux News, Limbaugh, Hannity, and most gun owners like nothing more than taking every single opportunity to blame the president for something he has not even done or said.

Obama actually has signed pro-gun legislation, but you would never hear that (he signed the updated LEOSA).

You will also never hear the fact that their personal hero Ronald Reagan signed one of the most restrictive gun laws ever, the 1986 revision to the National Firearms Act. Which was pretty much "game over" for new automatic weapons production for civilians, as well as many other stupid anti-gun rights provisions. Thanks Ronnie... he was likely "alzing out" by then, it was around the time where he "forgot" all his Iran-Contra stuff

It will likely have little impact on domestic sales. Where it will cause problems is with the import of military surplus ammo and guns, and possibly the cheap imported new production ammo. The UN has been behind several countries destroying old arms and ammunition rather than selling them to the civilian market.

As for Obama, he has a well documented history of being anti-gun and said he wanted to end private sales and ban "assault weapons" in 2008 when he was running. I suspect the fast and furious scandal was being used to push for gun control (he told gun control supporters he was working behind the scenes and at the same time suggested Mexico's problems could be stopped with a U.S. AWB. He does however want a second term so he hasn't touched it yet, but anyone who trusts him is ignoring his own words.

He in fact asked the NRA if they wanted him to sign the FOPA bill with the Dem. created poison pill (MG ban). The NRA said to sign it as they expected the ban to be tossed in court. The SCOTUS never took the case up.

Exactly how is this pro-gun? Pro LAW ENFORCEMENT perhaps, but does nothing for the average gun owner. It allows LEO to carry concealed, big deal..... They carry all day at work, why not carry at all other times and places? We trust them in uniform, why not in street clothes.

But the updated LEOSA is not a pro-gun piece of legislation.
