We don't want to kill them . We live in a neighborhood and it is illegal.

we just need something with pellets or something to run them off. We live on a heavily wooded lot with only 1 neighbor to the right of our house. In the back and the other side is woods and a herd of deer goes by twice a day to and from the farmers fields close by. They are so used to people that they show absolutely no fear of humans. And I just learned a stupid idiot down the street thinks it is fun to feed them from his hand. (hope he gets Lyme Disease!)

This might do the trick!
Amazon.com: Field Salute Cannon: Sports & Outdoors
This .58 caliber cannon doesn't belong behind glass-it should be saluting the crowds at all of your celebrations and parties. The 4.25" steel barrel rides atop a composite chassis featuring authentic styled wagon wheels. Drop in a cannon fuse, a little black powder and make some noise! The roar resembles a 12 gauge shotgun blast. These can also be used with firecrackers for a smaller report. A must have for military enthusiasts and collectors.

See if feeding deer is against the law where you live and turn him in to the authorities. Second get a good sling shot, I mean one of those $15 or $20 jobs, get the little steel shot or 32 caliber lead balls. It will be silent and they hurt like heck when you hit one, oh, and it's fun.

Don't be an ******* and hurt the deer.

If you want to scare them off all it will take is a blank gun or a fire cracker.

If you don't intend to kill it for food then don't harm it.

A woman in Boulder, Colorado shot a deer with an air rifle some years ago. The pellet hit an artery; the deer died. The perpetrator is now a convicted felon as well she should be. Many animals hit with pellets die slow lingering deaths from infection.

Blanks and/or firecrackers are something they become accustomed to pretty quickly. The slingshot is likely the most effective method.

But, I'll warn you in advance - the problem is going to get worse. Deer breed rapidly - and each doe will throw 1-2 fawns every season.

Don't use a pellet gun for the following reason: if you miss the deer's rump or something and the pellet hits the deer on the stomach, eye, ear, or the pellet passes between the ribs, you can injure it badly. In fact, we had an older gentleman in Anchorage, Alaska who used a pellet gun to scare moose out of his backyard. This day he shoots a moose on the chest, and the pellet made it to the moose's lung. The moose bedded down, and bled to death internally. He spent a lot of money in court defending himself.

Just don't shoot what you don't want to kill. However, I do agree with the poster who said that a slingshot would take care of the problem.

Or just leave some food out by the garage, then when they come inside, close the door. Venison, yum!

On the other hand an angry deer in a locked garage... hope your car isn't in there too!
