Yup and part of the "problem" is everyone judging ammunition availability by what happens in a Walmart. Goodness, there are other places to shop. By this thread you'd think the world of guns and ammunition lives and dies by what goes on in a Walmart. Geesh.
Walmart ammo availability serves ONLY as an indicator as to the general state of availability compared to pre-election ban scare. It seems that .22 lr is still harder to come by than it should be, and I haven't heard a GOOD explication as to why the most common ammo is now so hard to come by.

Stop me if you've heard this one...
I believe .22lr is hard to come by because demand is increased for all calibers and cartridges. Manufacturers are going to first respond to the demand where profit margin per round is greatest therefore are focussing on centerfire and handgun ammo.

I have heard many say they buy 22lr because its cheap to practice, but at 20 cents a round I can shoot my AK for the same price. So I will not pay more than 7 to 8 cents a round. Its been my rule since the SH shooting and it has served me well. I had price lines on 223 and 7.62 also. I just will not pay over that price. If I can't buy at that price I don't buy. I did buy and sell some of the 7.62, but that was that berry bullet replacement crap. I made a few bucks and then bought Tula replacement.
Walmart had lots of WWbox 9mm and others, They got in 3 boxes of Federal 550 22lrs, I got one as they only let you buy one box. Its 23.89 a box so its in the 5 cents a round. Not too bad.
Just picked up 7 boxes of CCI 100 rounds each. I had to choose between two walmarts and most likely should have reversed it as they did not bring out the 1000 round boxes at the one I was in line at 6am. By the time I got to the other one the two k boxes were sold by 7:30. Oh well. Can't win them all. I still got the CCIs for 7.49 a box. The girl selling them signed the back of each box Walmart saying that it stops people from selling. LOL What a dunce.

I don't know. I thought it was a bit stupid. What business is it of some clerk to tell a buyer to not sell ammo. I know she held the two boxes of M22 back. I almost laughed in her face when she signed the back walmart.
Lots of Federal 100 pack 223, 9mm WWbox, 40 Smith and wesson, 380 acp, limited 22lr though. Even on line its limited. I only scored 700 rounds and just missed the thousands.
