I have an old pre scope groove SS Redhawk. I can not find many for sale on line for reference and when I do they are always more expensive than the Super RH. Personally I think the old model is much more attractive and it may not be built quite as heave as the new model but I like it better. So do they old models carry a premium?
The Redhawk was available from first offering with scope ring grooves. I paid extra for my .44 with rings in the 70's. I was a option that just cost more. The newer bigger framed ones are called Super Redhawks. Ruger Redhawk
I knew of the so called problems of the Redhawk but Many have never had a problem with their gun and Ruger will take care of that problem if it ever comes up. I like the looks of the old RH over the SRH. I just see it carry a premium when I do find them.
I have a Redhawk in 357 mag, which is no longer offered. Great gun, heavy for the caliber but accurate and a smooth trigger. I used it once to take a javelina in Arizona at 75 yards with open sights. I've had several people offer to buy it for more than I paid but no thanks I'll keep her.
