I am about 5'9, and very slender. I have a hard time finding a EDC pistol that works with someone of a smaller stature. Right now I have a G26. I would really love to find a good 1911 compact or commander that would not break the bank. Right now I have 3 full size 1911's, but they are a little bit impractical for carry. Any suggestions? I don't want to go down into the "pocket pistol 380" category either.

Commander is about as small as you'll probably want to go. "Compact" 1911s are notorious for having issues- scaling down a full size 1911 apparently does that.

You can carry just about any pistol comfortably if you have a good holster and good placement- I CC a Glock 34 and it's usually not a problem unless I'm sitting in the car for long periods of time.

How do you holster your 34 and where do you put it?

This if your looking for a flawless working scaled down 1911.

I'd try out the new Glock 42. It's a .380 but until Glock gives us a single stack 9mm it's worth a test.

I'm about 5'7" 130 lbs. I have carried a Glock 19 IWB appendix style for years wearing a t shirt and jeans. I worked a job where I had to deal with the public, including cops. None of them ever made me, except one, a teen age kid.

I prefer the Glock 19 over the 26 solely for the additional barrel length, which means more velocity and more stopping power. But you can put a G19 barrel into a G26 and it will work perfectly fine.

Another option is pocket carry with a mini-9 such as the Kahr PM9. But if you go that route, you don't have the option to install a longer barrel for increased stopping power.

Love to. Can't find one.

You can get them online for 50%+ over MSRP, but they're basically unavailable locally (here in LV anyway). I'll pick one up as soon as I can do it for MSRP or less. I reeeaaally want one, but I'm willing to wait. I've heard that good things come to those that wait.

I had a PM9, but didn't like it. I know it's a good gun, but I just didn't like how it shoots, and I never carried it. After sitting in the safe untouched for a year, I sold it a few weeks ago with the money earmarked for a G42.

4-6, Raven Concealment Vanguard II. Basically covers the trigger and has a belt loop, that's it.

My local Academy Sports had one of the new G42's, and was about to send it back to Glock for catastrophic malfunctions. The salesman told me that he has had three come back with major feeding and ejection issues.

I've read there have been a few issues. I'm sure Glock will get it worked out.
