so many choices,
I always carry a NAA Mini or Magnum, they are small enough to fit in the watch pockets of my jeans, or I can wear the mini in a belt buckle and no one knows it is a firearm,
for fun, in order:
Heritage Rough Rider .22 SAA,
Chiappa 1911-22
Phoenix Arms HP-22
AR-7 Explorer II

IMO the Ruger MK series is the best all-around .22LR semi-auto handgun series. I grew up shooting my dad's old Mark 1 and I still love it.

My wife has a Smith & Wesson 22A Target model that I really don't like it at all. It's extremely accurate, but it's rare to go through more than a couple of full 10-round magazines without some sort of failure. Usually a light strike, but also other types of failure. If I can convince her to sell it I would get a Ruger Mark III or 22/45 with a threaded barrel.

Being an old Service Model 1911 competitor, my favorite is obviously a 22/45. However, I also have a Mk III that I like. Absolutely no issues with either handgun.

I once had a High Standard Victor which I loved. For normal carry when plinking I liked a heavy barrel Ruger auto because it was cheap and could be abused more. I had mine modified with V rear site and front bead for quick shooting at small game.

The GSG 1911-22 is a pretty damn awesome pistol.

It doesn't matter because they don't sell .22 ammo anymore.

I have several Rugers in .22, and they are the best all around choices. The single six is big, versatile, and accurate. The 22/45 is big and accurate. The SR22 is still NIB but shows great promise. Also in rifles, Ruger understands the .22 cartridge better than anybody else. Someday I might try a Bearcat.

However the Phoenix Arms HP22 is a surprisingly great little pistol; it's pocketable with the shorter barrel, about the size and weight of a Keltec P-11. With the longer 5" target barrel, it's accurate and well balanced, easy to shoot. The finger extension on the mag helps too. Be sure to buy the complete kit, with both barrels, for about $199 instead of just the pistol alone for about $160 and then buy a bunch of spare mags, because ten rounds go quick and .22 mags are always a pain to refill. People will call it a Saturday Night Special junk gun, but ask folks who own them why they won't sell them. They are fun.

I have a flawless Manurhin Walther PP in .22LR that I love to shoot. Accurate and rock solid reliable. The European Walthers have it all over the trouble prone US made versions.

How do you like your Rough Rider? How long have you had it?

I had a Ruger SR22 that I liked.

Don't own any .22LR pistols at the moment, though.
