Not the permanent home. Just got it on the bench and a few screws in the base just to service it. There's still old powder and shot in it, dead bugs and creepy crawlies. I'll need to get a manual and service it a bit before I start playing with it.

I’ve been loading my 7mm-mag with Nosler brass, H-1000 and 160gr partitions. 70gr of powder, Fed215 mag primer resulted in 3,100fps with very consistent velocities. No signs of pressure unless it was really hot.

So I had to buy a new batch of H-1000, and I got some Peterson brass- which I like very much- heavier than Nosler brass. So I started a new work up with partitions. Interesting result- 69.4 gr of powder resulted in 3,150 fps- very consistent velocities. No signs of over pressure and I stopped there.

Very good accuracy, .5gr less powder and 50fps faster. I’m pretty happy with that.

I’d bet that if you measured the capacity of the Peterson brass, it’d tell you the story.

Oh hell just weigh them. The Petersons are 20gr heavier than Nosler. Plus the Petersons are really consistent from piece to piece. I really like their brass. If someone has a tight chamber/throat- I'd bet Peterson might need to be neck turned.

Yep. Most likely the heavier brass translates to reduced capacity, equals higher pressure and greater velocity.

I’ve heard good stuff about the Peterson brass, but I’ve never used it.

I like them. Price wise they are often cheaper than Nosler. I bought 200 pieces of .308 LRP Peterson brass and I pulled 10-12 out. Every time I go to the range I reload those pieces with the same lot of IMR4064, 44 gr charge and same lot of Sierra 168 Match Kings. I'm on the 13th reload with no signs of fatigue. I find annealing every 3rd reload brings it back to consistent velocity SD/ES pretty nicely.

I see no reason I won't be able to get 20 reloads out of this brass.

I bought some Lapua SRP .308 brass and intend to do the same, however with Varget and Sierra's new 169gr MK.

Finally got around to loading some more 6.5 PRC. RL 26 has been pretty scarce and if you find it, it's gonna cost you.

Yesterday I loaded up some 280AI rounds with 155gr federal terminal ascent bullets. Going to sight in my new rifle/brux barrel and test for pressure and velocity with 10 rounds, starting at 57gr H4831SC moving in .5gr increments to 60gr, then moving up .3gr after 60.

Let's see what this rifle/barrel likes to eat.

Oh boy. I saw a guy selling .300 win mag nickel brass already sized and primed. He wanted 2 bucks for each. People need to get supply chain off the brain. I can get loaded ammo for cheaper than that.

So I loaded up 10 rounds starting at 57gr of H4831sc and moved up in .5gr increments until I hit 60gr and then went up .3gr increments. Stopped at 60.9gr which I felt would be near max case capacity.

Pretty interesting- the last four rounds which were apart by .3 grs started around 15fps faster then fell off to about 8-9 fps faster. And those four shots were 1/2# group at 100yds.

That’ll put a 155gr slug at around 3025 fps. Factory federal 155’s run at 2950fps. I’d be happy with that.
