I'm going to Sally's this week to buy hair color and developer. What number developer should I buy? I don't want to burn off all of my hair.

The lower the number the less powerful it is. I think creams are easier to work too. Boxed drugstore colors generally have a 20 volume to it if that is what you are used to.

I've been using the boxed drugstore colors, since I can't afford my hairdresser until I get a job. My roots start showing after about three weeks, so I have to use professional color. So I'm going to Sally's this week to get what I need. I'll be glad when I can get my hair professionally done again.

My natural color is dark brown, but I haven't seen it in years. My hair has been golden blonde with lighter blonde highlights for years, but since I'm on unemployment, I had to give up my hairdresser and start doing it myself.

I've been using Garnier Nutrisse Champagne Blonde, but it's too light, so I'm going to go a little darker when I do it again. I've been to Sally's and looked at the hair color, but haven't bought any of it yet. I have to wait for my next check before I can buy anything.

20 vol if your using perm color to take it a bit darker...but that 20 vol may not have enough lifting power to lighten your dark brown roots to the blonde you desire... it really depends on what level your lifting your roots too and what level you are darkening your ends too...
That can get tricky... Talk to the people at Sallys...Your first question to them should be,,, "Are you a cosmotologist?" if they are, they should be able to give you sound advice...

Maybe I should just stick to the boxed drugstore stuff. Then I have to do my hair once a month.

I forgot to say that my roots aren't dark brown anymore, they're gray.
