I need help! I have a beautiful daughter from Ethiopia and am clueless about doing her hair. Can anyone recommend a salon/stylist in the Olympia - Lacey Washington area? Thanks in advance.

I suggest you ask at this site, it's a forum dedicated to black hair care.

Black Hair Media Hair Forum (http://talk.blackhairmedia.com/default.asp - broken link)

You will see there is even a children's section. The site members are from all over the country, surely including someone who can offer suggestions in your area.

I can't imagine that the child has such a difficult texture of hair that you can't wash it, condition it, and pull it up into a ponytail. It's not like it's a foreign substance, it's hair.

I suggest going to the Washington (state) thread on City data, find the city closest to yours and post your question there.

Or, simply google search "black hair salons, olympia washington" (or google the largest city in your area).

Also YouTube has some excellent videos you can watch to see how to do the girls hair at home. On YouTube search: black hair care.

On YouTube you can post questions (or email them) to the people who post the videos and many times they will reply.

I would also try yelp.com for your area.Another approach would be to visit an Ethiopan restaurant or bakery in your area. I would approach any woman there and explain your situation. I suggest this because many Ethiopians have hair that is a different texture than many African-Americans (I am African-American) (NOTE: these are generalizations), so if there is a salon frequented by many Ethiopians, you might want to go there.
