I was hospitalized in July with a nasty lung infection (Blastomycosis). Because my body went through a great deal of stress I am now rapidly losing my hair. Has this happened to anyone else, and what was the outcome? I'm keeping my finger's crossed that it will grow back. In the meantime I'm attached to my baseball cap!

This type of hair loss is called telogen effluvium. In most cases the hair follicles will begin to reactivate and grow new hair with no treatment needed, so try not to stress about it too much.

as long as you don't have any other dietary issues, increase your protein intake as well - this may help - your body used a lot of protein to fight that infection off!

My husband had gastric sleeve weight loss surgery a little over a year ago. They warned him that because of the stress of rapid weight loss, most people lose some hair, but that it would grow back. He did indeed lose some, but it did grow back right away. It was never enough to be noticeable except to him. He could see the "shedding." It did grow back. Oddly enough, however, when it grew back, it was "wavier." We both noticed that.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I'm still losing my hair, and have a few bald patches now. Fingers crossed the hair doesn't grow back straight and grey!!

I can sincerely recommend de-stressing the best way you can, and also to take the best products I know to make your hair grow faster and stronger no matter what: garlic (in any form), and the vitamin called Biotin (1000 mg or more per pill). The garlic can be taken externally (on your hair and scalp if you are bold enough) or better yet, in your cooking for example on a home made salad dressing (raw is best) or in a garlic oil form for scalp massages. Or if not, then Biotin alone can help grow your hair and nails in ways you cannot now imagine!! it is very affordable and worth the time and effort to just take for example one clove of garlic (small), then your multi-vitamin, and then your Biotin (not necessarily in that order) but you get the idea. I suffered from PTSD at my job of 10 years, and almost lost my hair as a result of that so I can relate, but with the garlic, the Biotin and a lot of de-stressing despite the medical condition I was able to get my hair back, now I only have two patches (hardly noticeable) but the Biotin does help a lot. If you want something stronger, I then recommend Viviscal, which is natural and made from Fish Oil, and also Mira Hair Oil for external use on your hair. All the best to you in getting your hair back
