Can anyone explain the difference between the 2 processes and which process is the best for curly, course, very thick hair?

I don't like pin straight hair for me. I definitely like volume on top. My hair stylist keeps telling me that I have to have the Brazilian. That I would love it! I've also heard of the Lazio Treatment.

I live in NJ and will be moving south so eventually I will have to do something. What should I expect to pay for the process.

I got a Brazilian Blowout (tm). I had it done at a different salon than my usual place b/c my salon wasn't certified in it. I wasn't able to get a lot of information from the stylist there b/c English was a second language for her and she wasn't fluent enough to discuss the process well. I also don't look as good with pin-straight hair but that's what I ended up with. My hair naturally is medium thickness, ringlet curls with some frizz, not much coarseness (white chick here). A receptionist at that salon said she had the BB over top of a relaxer treatment (mixed Lebanese & black chick) and her hair was a smooth and swingy bob, but you could still see some texture within her hair (sort of like you can see with hair pressed with a hot comb, you know?).

My stylist has since become certified and has told me that the amount of straightening you get from the BB is dependent on now many times each hair section is ironed with the flat iron. 3-4x gets you waves, 10-15x gets you straight, straight, straight.

I got the process done Labor Day weekend and it's starting to wear off now but still pretty straight. I notice that it's wearing off because it's taking longer to dry and it holds a hot roller curl longer than it had been. Still, it will probably be January before I need to go again.

Around WDC area, prices run $250-$350, the lower prices don't include the shampoo & conditioner (conditioner runs ~$50/bottle), highest prices for long hair w/ products. A lot of that is labor cost: triple shampoo, blow out straight until hair is damp, apply product, flat iron in tiny little sections, another shampoo & condition, trim and style, so 2-2.5 hours of time where it's all hands-on work for the stylist.

I'm overall happy with it, esp. now that it's not quite so flat, and b/c I know my regular stylist will not make it as straight/flat as the original stylist did it. I'll have it done again, for sure.
