I spend a LOT of time in the ocean. My hair gets wet/dry/wet/dry and looks and feels like a mess at the end of the day. I know that there used to be hair products made to use at the beach, to help protect hair while in the sun and surf, and to detangle. Any product recommendations that you can offer?
I don't know a particular product, but I would suggest dousing your hair with fresh water and then using either olive oil or argan oil on it to seal in the fresh water and act as a barrier against the salt water. Hair that is already wet doesn't absorb so much salt water. Rinse your hair with more fresh water when you come out of the ocean for awhile and re-apply the oil.

Not feasible for me to rinse every time I come out...simply don't have the ability to carry that much water with me. I was simply hoping for a detangling/conditioner spray of some sort.
When I lived in Hawaii and swam in the ocean every day, dealing with long tanglely hair was always a problem. After rinsing out the salt water I always used a leave-in detangler spray. If you can't do that, I'd just keep my hair braided if long, wear a hat, and at home shower and deep condition it.
If you can't rinse your hair with fresh water and are just looking for a protectant spray, I would try:
-Redken Color Extend Sun Solar Screen SPF 12
-John Frieda Thermal Protection Serum
-Macadamia Natural Oil - Healing Oil Treatment
^ these are all somewhat expensive ($10-$30)... just check at Sallys or Ulta... there are plenty more hair products that have SPF and UVA/UVB protectants in them
