I've been dying my own hair at home for years and, since I stay within a shade or two of my natural hair, things have gone well. Lately, though, I've noticed that the base of most of the at-home colors seems to be red. My hair constantly has a red-tint to it that I HATE and takes forever to get rid of. It doesn't matter if I pick a natural shade or gold shade or even some of the ashes now have the yucky red. I realize that hair color needs some warm and cool tones; but it seems to me that the trend is definitely leaning towards warmer and red as opposed to the gold-based.
Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone know of any at-home browns that are truly gold-based? The last one I found that worked pretty well was herbashine light ash brown---which they discontinued, grrrr. I really need a gold-based color.
A gold based color is a warm shade...ie red in it...If you do not want red in your color you need to only use Ash base colors. Red base or gold base are warm tones...not cool...
