I moved to Pennsylvania about two years ago, and I noticed that so many woman in my age group - middle aged have really short hair. I mean an inch longer than a crew cut!

It's not a look - it's just really short. Sort of like a ten year old boy. They literally do nothing with it.

Where I lived before woman did not automatically cut their hair after 35 or 40. Here is seems to be true.

How about where you live? Is that the norm?

How is it not a look? I've seen women with very short hair. It's definitely a "look" even though they may not have to style it daily.

Check out pics of Judi Dench. I think she looks great. I've seen women with shorter hair too. Whatever works for them.

You have to have a great face and the confidence to pull it off. Most women can't hack it (hyuck hyuck).

You just described my hair and I love my Summer cut. It makes getting out of the swimming pool so much easier if you don't have to dry your hair with a dryer before leaving. I think it also makes me look years younger. There is nothing that ages a woman in her 60's more than having hair below her ears. I can open the car windows and let the air flow and just use a brush when I stop the car. My only problem is the sleep hair first thing in the morning. Hair brush usually takes care of that. Sometimes it takes a little hair spray too.

Probably most 'famous' woman with short hair: Halle Berry and I'd say that it is a look. It's not a look every woman can carry off. I seen time and again though where the male say they want woman with long hair anyways.

Long hair on older women looks hideous especially after 60 but i do wish the hairstylists would come up with something for older women, its the same cut every time most look like a short back and sides puffed up on top, dreadful, i have very fine hair so wear it in a short/medium bob, what else is there.

A lot of the 30s+ women where I live have short hair. IMO shorter hair gives you more styling options and can really add/improve your look

I had very long hair most of my life. I'm in my 60's and now have short hair and love it. It is not as short as you describe, but lets my natural curl do it's own thing (all I have to do is add a little mousse, and let it air dry-looks like I used hot rollers). I wish I had cut it years ago. It is perfect for riding with my husband in his convertible. No hat or scarf needed, just a quick comb through before I get out of the car.

I think long hair on every age woman looks the best! Nothing accentuates feminine qualities like long hair. Older women are especially beautiful with long white or silver hair. There are about 1% of women who look good with short hair (maybe a little more )

I feel a woman needs a certain shaped head, certain size and shaped face, certain shape arse and body the short hair.
