How to grow out my hair and make it look decent (cut, product)

I've always been a guy who kept his hair really short, however I am sick and tired of paying 20+ dollars to say "ill take a guard 2 on the sides and finger length on top"


I don't really care too much about fashion or how my hair looks, I just don't want to look like a dirtball. Is there any way to grow my hair out but not look like a dirtball? Do I just let it grow or is there something specific that I have to do?

Just tell the stylist you are wanting to grow it out. Ask for a "medium length" cut and hopefully the stylist will know how to make it look good.

The point in growing it out is to avoid having to pay for a hair stylist

Are you just going to keep growing it out forever? At some point you will need a haircut.
