I have read a lot of content on the internet related to this topic and most people claim that it will return to normal in a couple months. However, I had my hair thinned out 6 months ago and I have not seen any noticeable improvement. My hair used to be thick and full but now it's seemingly lifeless. Has anyone else had this problem and can give me insight from personal experience? My hair is approximately 5 inches long.

Really depends where & how short the shortest layers were cut when thinned.. Could be anywhere from 6mos to several yrs - though if you normally keep your total length @ 5", it shouldn't take too much longer..

As a rule, hair grows approximately .5 inch/month; so it depends on how short the 'thinned' out hairs were cut as to how soon you'll have it back to the length you prefer.

I agree 100% with D217 and katie45 but would like to add that perhaps your hair might need a little added help. When my hair was damaged and became very brittle, started to break and was generally dull looking my hairdresser said I needed to use a hair repair system and she pointed me to Pro Naturals. Becky has always thinned my hair but this was not the cause of the damage. Mine was caused by exposure to radiotherapy. After using this system and following their instructions I now have hair that has been restored to what it used to be - shiny, nice & easy to handle, no more breakage even though I use a styling iron several times a week. I hope this information is of help to you.

Thank you for all your help. How long did it take for the Pro Natural system to completely repair your hair, Lin1313?

In my point of view you need minimum 4 months with regular schedule as suggested by your beautician. Actually I have faced such issues and as per my beautician suggestion, there may be hormonal imbalance behind thinning problem and such damages can be recovered in 3-4 months.

I have this exact same problem. My hair used to be beautiful now it's just a sad thin mess. I've waited for my hair to grow out but I don't see any improvement. If there is anybody who call help me rusheilsfrancis@gmail.com I'm really upset. I'm so young and I loved my long wavy thick hair, now I look like an old person 

My hair is destroyed. I had long thick beautiful curly hair. Now it’s a thin lifeless mess. I’ve been very sick over this. I wouldn’t have taken any amount of money to allow this. The top and bottom hair is gone. I’m left with with only the middle section. My hair was down to my butt and I’m tall. Without my permission this was done so fast I’ve been very sick over this my hair meant everything to me. I would never have allowed someone to thin my hair. It was done without my permission or knowledge and I’ve been so sick over this.

This has just happened to me. I am sick about it. I'm 51 and the hair dresser completely thinned out my entire head of thin hair. I have no idea what I ever did to her, but, I need justice! I need to know how your hair is doing. Are the skinny strands growing back? My hair only grows 2 inches per year. I've never been so pissed in my whole life.
