I am getting grayer. I understand that I will need shampoo to minimize yellowing in my lightest areas. The front of my hair is white light--meaning it is quite white. I'd like to use a shampoo formulated for white hair, at least once a week. Can anyone recommend a good one, and where to find it? I can't find anything at Walgreens, for sure.

Thanks in advance.

Clairol Shimmer Lights. The shampoo is blue. You will see the same for any other brand that is for white or blond hair because the blue is what cancels out the yellowing.

You can get this shampoo at Sally Beauty Supply which has locations in many US towns. Go to their main web site to see if they have a location near you. You can also buy online from them. Or at Amazon.

here is the product from Amazon

Clairol Shimmer Lights is the best! I use it twice a week and let it sit on my hair for several minutes before I rinse it out (usually do this in the shower) - it makes a big difference in my white sections and even makes the silver and darker gray hairs brighter.

On a DIY note - I have a friend that puts a package of unsweetened grape Koolaid in a full bottle of Dr. Bronner's Baby Shampoo (which she gets at Target) and she swears by the results! Her hair (very pale blonde & gray) does look gorgeous . . .

I use Shimmer Lights, too, but didn't even realize that it was a Clairol product. It seems to have worked better initially, I don't notice much of a difference any more.

I'm a blonde-going-silver. My husband is mostly salt and pepper now (still a little more pepper than salt though), but I can't get him to try my purple shampoo! I would love to see if it makes a difference in his hair, since there's more contrast between his silver and his dark brown original.

My Pro Naturals shampoo (which is part of the hair repair system that I use) really makes my hair shiny white. My husband uses it once a month as well and his white really shines also. I tend to look at the ingredients, the less there are the better.
