So I ran out of leave-in conditioner / spritz /whatnot and washed and conditioned my hair and remembered I read how coconut oil will change my life.
I decided to apply some to my wet hair before blow-drying. OMG my hair looks worse then before I washed it!!
I did put too much on especially around my face and it looks really greasy and separated.
I have some corn starch - does anyone know how much cornstarch to use to get some oilyness out?
I just got it all foiled 2 weeks ago and don.t want to wash it, as i usually only wash it 1x week. I like to keep from washing the color out.
Any ideas?

Put the cornstarch in your hand - sprinkle maybe 1/4 teaspon on your hands at a time and cover your hands with a thin layer of it. Then rub the corn starch on the oily hair. Do more as needed. Then use a brush to move the corn starch through the hair. You can turn your head upside down and rub the hair with your hands to move the corn start through. It comes out pretty easy.

Be careful if you are wearing dark colored clothing because the white corn starch will show. If you get it on your clothes you can use a damp washcloth to remove or take the clothes off and shake them.

My understanding is that you apply the coconut oil before washing. I would definitely re-wash my hair.

I read to put it in wet hair, let it sit over night and wash it out the next morning, so I tried it. I had to re-wash my hair 3 or 4 times to get it all out. And I didn't even use that much. It was so awful. It did not turn out how pinterest said it would lol It was soft, but also heavy, greasy and flat.

I've always found coconut oil too "heavy" and so difficult to wash out. I much prefer my Pro Naturals argan oil. I use this as a leave in treatment in wet hair. I apply mainly to the ends before blow drying and heat styling. Keeps my hair really shiny, no frizz, no flyaways and definitely no split ends and not greasy.

Coconut oil and my hair = not a happy combination. Maybe it is most effective with certain types of hair.

I do it 1x every 2 weeks.
Makes my short hair thick as a blanket..
But it's dry so it needs it.
My daughter's hair is long, virgin, and dry only at the ends....it was horrible for her hair.

Eat it, or rub it on stuff, but it is oil, after all. Most people would do better just using a regular shampoo.

My understanding is that its meant as a pre-shampoo treatment.... for deep conditioning.

Its not going to be right for every hair type. My hair happens to love it. I put it in at night, wrap my hair in a cap, and then shampoo the next day.
