OP, it takes years for white women to get long hair that extends down to their waist, say. If you see a TV character who cut her hair short, then two years later it's really long, assume that the Hollywood makeup artists gave her extensions. Don't confuse TV/film with reality. What's going on in reality is often a whole different thing.

Kaley Cuoco's long hair was extensions. She now has her original character's lob hairstyle.

Everyone's hair grows approx. 6" per year give or take. As others have said, curly hair looks shorter, straight hair shows it's full length. If you see anyone whose hair "grew" dramatically, you can be assured it's extensions, a weave, or a wig.

Genetics is the answer.

It's built into DNA.

Of course, within these 2 major ethnic groups, there are variances.

Below is a very popular weave that many black women are wearing:

I like the above picture. I think the hair is very pretty. But why can't they just grow out their hair like that? Why can't they grow hair fast like white women?
Two things: I'm white and my hair grows impossibly slow. Also, you are talking about two years and she is likely wearing extensions. Hell, if I could afford them, I'd have them too.

Black women don't need weaves to grow their hair long. Their are tons of Black women with long, natural hair. Wearing a weave is a choice and not a necessity.

I'm not sure how my post could be a troll post. Is it because of the white vs. black comparison?

I know you're assuming my post isn't a troll post. But I don't even know why you brought it up as if it could be.

EDIT

Thanks to others who enlightened me on the topic. I didn't know Kaley had extensions.

Interesting what this study found...

https://www.google.com/amp/amp.lives...?client=safari

A 2005 study in the International Journal of Dermatology also found a difference among races in the rate of hair growth. For example, Asian hair grows the fastest, while African hair grows the slowest.

The average hair growth rate of Asian female participants was nearly 6 inches per year. Comparatively, African female participants' hair grew 4 inches (10 cm) per year, while Caucasian female participants' hair grew a little more than 5 inches (13 cm) per year.

I am white and right now my hair at its longest point just barely touches the tops of my shoulders. I want to grow it back to about bra strap length. It will literally take years for it to get there. Approximately two years, to be exact. I know this from experience. My hair is straight. Tiniest little bit of a wave, I actually call it a bend rather than a wave.

Women in Hollywood wear extensions en masse. It is huge and has been for years now. We all know this. Get real. It's huge outside of Hollywood, too. Women, white or not, don't suddenly grow inches of hair out of nowhere.
