I've had it with the ones I've been using...which you can get in the supermarket. Both brands leave my hair limp and with a not-clean feeling and every color or scent they use smells exactly the same as the next. I want my hair to feel CLEAN.
No need for 'organic' or 'cruelty-free'...just a nationally-available brand. Nothing against supermarket or drug store brands. Just not the ones I've used, one beginning with 'S' and the other having a number in it.

Have you tried using a lemon or vinegar rinse after washing your hair? Many times the problem is build up of either hair care products or the elements in your water supply and "clear" shampoo tends to be weaker. Another idea if your hair is darker is rinsing with a cup of warm coffee and then working it through your hair and then rinsing that out, makes a big difference with my hair.

Yeah, I wouldn't want the lemon bleaching effect, but I don't think vinegar can do that, thanks for the reminder.
Sometimes I use beer. But only what I term 'hair beer.'
Most are full of toxic rubbish and why it strips your hair of nutrients, I now only use Avalon Rosemary, and most of my family have changed to it too, slightly more expensive but worth every penny....
Have you tried Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo. I used to use it when I used a lot of styling products and it did a pretty good job of getting rid of the feeling of too much 'build up'. You only use it between regular shampoos, once a week or so.
That was my first thought! That smell reminds me of my high school years. LOVED Neutrogena! I don't use it anymore because I've come to realize that my dry, curly hair does not like to be stripped like Neutrogena's clarifying/anti residue shampoos do. But my hair always felt so clean and clear after using it.
