I don't get it done. Just shampoo/cut.
Just a cut is $50 (I don't bother with the blow-dry and style bc I usually just go straight home).
Then $20 tip.
So $70 a pop and I go about every 6-8 weeks. I get my hair cut shorter than I like so I can go longer between cuts. It grows like a weed.
My problem is that I usually wait till it's too late (and my hair looks crazy) and then I try to book and my hair lady is in demand and very busy. So I wander around shaggy dog-lookin' for a couple of weeks.

I would think she'd try her best to accommodate you since you're tipping 40% unless all her other clients do too.
$45 once a month. I have very thick, coarse hair and it's cut in a very precise style and has to be thinned once a month just to keep it under control! Actually I have a pelt. So I let the professionals handle it!
I feel you. My hair is so thick and coarse the bottom half is shaved to the skin. My haircutting bill would be exponentially increased if it weren't for my wonderful wife, who shaves it every two weeks for me. I recently tried growing it back out, but the Afro soon became too much to handle, so out came the clippers again.
I was spending $80 on a cut and color before I discovered henna, and the switch pissed off my stylist, who stubbornly refused my efforts to educate her on why BAQ certified pure henna is a lot safer than the commercial dye she used on me, plus unlike chemical red dyes, it doesn't fade out in 2 weeks.

Not a good idea to tick off the person who cuts your hair, lol.
I feel guilty for switching stylists. I live in a small town and while my old stylist and local lady is good and careful she cannot do anything new or different. I switched my husband did not and it is awkward when I run into her around town.
Locally(TN) I usually pay $20.00 for a cut. No style or blowout.
I just paid $90.00 for a wash, cut, full color, and a lot of time spent styling my hair while in Florida. I hated to pay that much but the salon got such rave reviews. I would pay her again for a style and cut but to save money I will dye my own.
I try not to go over $35 for a cut and not over $100 for a color. I usually go to student salons or look on Groupon because it's cheaper. If it's more than a trim I try and go to a more pro place because my hair is thick and not all cuts look great on me. I go about every 4-6 months for a cut/trim and a color about once or twice a year.
I've tried cutting my own hair only to butcher it too many times to know better than to try and cut my own hair again. I don't know how people do it. It's too stressful and time consuming for me.

Does henna make your hair softer? I've been thinking about putting henna over my dried out bleached hair to soften it.
$49 for a haircut. I have it done every 6 weeks or so. (I have short hair. Have to have it cut regularly to maintain the style and keep it from turning into "mushroom head.") I usually just give them $60, with the extra $11 going to the stylist as a tip.
I HATE going to get my hair done. However after about 3 years of not going to a salon I decided I needed to get some highlights to help with the transition of all the gray hair coming in. I'm naturally blonde so I had very very light highlights put all the way through. She charged me $75 which for my length and amount of hair I have is a great price where I live. I cut my own hair so the $75 was just for highlights with a wash and blow dry.
I pay around $50 plus tip. I keep my hair really short, and my salon offers free fringe trims between full haircuts. So I actually go about every 5 weeks, alternating a full haircut with the fringe trim. So I guess it averages out to $25 a cut. The only real difference is that the full haircut includes a shampoo.
