I just got my hair straightened---supposed to last 6 months. I've heard about "silk" pillowcases to keep hair smooth. Has anyone tried this, and what material did you actually purchase? Real silk is pretty cost-prohibitive, so did you get satin or some replica material?

I use satin pillowcases. I also use chiffon (stays in my hair easier than silk or satin) wraps or scarves or even wide headbands. My hair tends to frizz by my hairline and the headband, wrap or scarf helps me protect the strands most likely to frizz.
I have a few silk pillowcases purchased off ebay (come from Asia) They were around $20 or so, and I love them. The really DO make a difference in hair and skin.
Yes you should be using silk or satin cases no matter what. It should be a forever thing. It helps reduce breakage and frizz. Marshalls, target has them.

Thanks!
Actually it is satin pillows that have been used by women maybe longer ago than a century. The satin has a glossy sheen so smooth your hair will glide over it and not mess up. There are silk filaments and nylon in satin but the weave of the satin makes it behave differently than silk garment weave.
amazon.com has a whole bunch of choices, both in satin and in silk.
I've tried both. And they do help. I prefer silk. Cost is not bad on amazon.com.
