Amazon is full of head shaving things.
I am on my 2nd one. It is, basically, a hand held shaver with 5 spring loaded rotating blades. Does OK. Needs to be recharged every 4th or 5th shave. But fits in the palm of your hand.
Just look for ones that have blades cupped, not flat. Cupped fits better around sphere of the head.
Also, you are confusing. You say shave then you say clip? Is it shave or clip?
I don't know if brand matters for fine hair. I have used a Wahl with all the 1/8" increment attachments to cut my own for about 30 years now. All you need is a wall mounted mirror, a hand mirror in your hand, then the clippers in the other unless you have a large angled mirror like in a fitting room.
I've taken it to a professional to have the blade sharpened twice. It doesn't work as good for trimming facial hair like some of the ones designed for that, but gets the job done and works great and has saved me thousands of dollars over the years.
That's the only concern, is the blade. That's nice to know you can get it sharpened.
I just took a whirl at DHs hair over the weekend. He has a Wahl, rechargeable groomer, with about 6 different tips to adjust the closeness of the cut. It was very easy to use and came out good.
In Georgia, the beauty salons are allowed to open after Friday, so if you hang in awhile longer, you won’t have to DIY.
I ended up buying a Remington HC4250 Shortcut Pro clipper. It took a LOOOOOOng time to get here but arrived yesterday.
I used the 1/8th inch guide and I am very satisfied. I only clipped the sides and back; I left everything on top. It may be slightly uneven around the top so I may try a longer guide for that. I also bought a ball cap with the clipper so it doesn't matter too much. I just wanted to get the hair off my ears.
Did a "touch up" tonight. 1/4" on top. 1/8" upper head and 1/16" around the ears. Honestly I do not think I will ever visit the barber ever again! I really don't care what I look like to other people; I like short hair.
Look for some better quality dog clippers. Even used if in good shape. And get set universal depth clips off ebay. They clip onto end of any clippers. Highly recommend you dont buy the el cheapo home hair cut type clippers made in China. Be lucky if they give couple three uses before they dull and pull your hair.
dont worry about accessories. Can 3in1 oil handy to keep blade lubed. Fine tooth comb may or may not be helpful.
I've buzz cut my own hair for years now. Use the half inch depth clip on my clippers so dont look like I just been drafted in the army. You will learn as you go.

I still remember my first day on Parris Island; long hair down to shaved head. Quite a shock for a young man in 1982 with "fashionably long hair.
I really like the Remington shaver; a little bit bigger than a computer mouse and easy to use. I've only used them twice so maybe it will crap out soon. If so I will get some dog clippers as you suggest.

Good for you, my hubby started using clippers about 10 years ago, they have paid for themselves many times over & he is able to cut it to his satisfaction, not the barbers idea.
