Ok, I'm 59 yrs. old and I use Men's Hair Coloring on my mustache and temple area of my head. My wife loves that I do that. I do get rid of most of my gray hair and it does make me look "somewhat" younger. Wife colors her hair also (she is 60).
At my last job, my supervisor was 51, had a totally gray goatee and was totally bald. I was 5 yrs. older than him, but I actually looked quite younger than him b/c I had no gray hair and a full head of hair!
A gentleman moved in right above us and he has quite a bit of gray hair in his beard and does have a bald spot on his head with gray hair on his head also.
I guess there are a lot of 60 yr old men out there that do look 60 b/c of their gray hair showing and just don't care......the same goes from some ladies. I know that I have many compliments, "you sure don't look that old" made to me!
Just wondering how many men do use hair coloring to cover up gray hair and how many wives/girlfriends love it? If your man doesn't, do you wish he did?
Seems to me to be a lot of trouble. How often do you have to color? Aren't the chemicals used to color the hair harmful? Couldn't repeated use of these chemicals actually cause hair loss? I don't know.
I would think a better way to look good at any age is to stay in good physical shape, eat healthy, and find a great barber. Why fight to "look" younger when you're not?
I see nothing wrong with it. I wouldn't necessarily encourage my husband to do it because I don't feel that strongly about it, but if it made my hubby feel better about himself, then I'd be all for it.
As long as you don't go "overboard"! We have a friend who's got jet-black hair (in his 60's) and it doesn't look natural at all. We know he colors it, because you'll see some gray one day, then "poof" --it's gone! At some point NOT having some gray begins to look fake!
Lighter hair is much easier to hide the gray and still keep it looking natural! After all, lighter hair softens the aging face! (That's why it turns gray!!!)
Coloring the mustache and temple/sideburn areas......no trouble at all. Shoot, I've been doing this since I met my wife 9 years ago! I do it about every three weeks. It doesn't hurt my hair/skin at all. For me, I like having no gray hair showing when I go for an interview for a job. Heck, my wife colors her hair and it does make her look younger. A lady and her sister, that live across from us, don't do much at all with their hair/looks and it can be seen. Both of these ladies look much older than my wife b/c they do nothing with their hair or with the way they look and they are both only 2 yrs older than my wife!
Some ladies like/love their man showing gray hair, while others (like my wife) love that their man looks younger by coloring those gray spots.
By the way, my hair color PERFECTLY matches my natural color......guess I'm lucky there!!
I think your style of coloring is the only way to color in a flattering way for men of age.
It frames the face nicely. Sometimes all white or light silver can wash out the features.
I know men ask about it in this forum all the time so what do you use to color?
There are options out there that are non-toxic too. If you are feeling experiemental...
I love Richard Gere and Steve Martin and it has nothing to do with their acting abilities!!! I love the older more mature look that each has about them. They are two very sexy men and each has colored their hair for different movies and I don't like it!
