Since your hair is closer to blonde, yeah, go a little lighter (but not too light). No lighter than medium blonde is very pretty. Try it...

Or go strawberry blonde (it's a combination of red and blonde; reddish-blonde shade). I've had that color before (for 3 years) and everyone liked it.

I never really found myself attracted to blondes much myself. And I don't remember meeting a lot of redheads. But I'd definitely prefer red hair to blonde.

I like dark complected women with dark brown or black hair.

I think the red in the pic you show is not right for you -- it will look too fake and harsh on your skin tone. But there are good shades of red...you need to go to an experienced professional and get his/her opinion. Do a consultation with them first, or with more than one. Consuts are usually free. You can also try demi-permanent color so that it slowly washes out after a month to see if you really like a color for long term.

A deep auburn for the Fall season!! Use a semi perm color. So it will fade out, less expensive and way less damaging. Then Highlight it in the spring.
