I have silver gray/white hair and am in my 60's, so my hair is really dry-dry (look around you and you'll see how dry geezer hair is). On another post someone suggested trying mixing mayo and avacado together and using it for a conditioner.
Since I had an avocado that was just a little too ripe to eat, I mixed it with an equal amount or little more mayo on my almost waist length thick hair, put 2 plastic bags from the grocery story on my head tying the handles tight so no air could get in and sat for 45 minutes.
I just washed it out with whatever shampoo was there and used no other conditioner. The mayo/avocado came out really easily, and I just did one scrub with the shampoo. Wow! My hair--especially when I followed it up with a very light amount of coconut oil on it--is so soft and fluffy! This really, really works.
I've tried a whole bunch of conditioners, and I find this mayo and avocado mix followed by a light application of extra virgin coconut oil to work the best of anything. You can be sure I'll be doing this again.
Just wanted to pass it on if anyone is interested.

Have you tried any other fruit/vegetables?

I have some overripe bananas, so I'm wondering...

No. Do a Google search and see if it helps. Personally, I'm doubtful.

I've used enough mayo/avocado and coconut oil that now my hair--which is silver and bone dry normally--isn't dry any longer. Keep at it and it works. If I can do it with my super dry hair, you surely can do it. Good luck!

Please, please, please, please, please, please.........

Wash that mayo out of your hair thoroughly!!

I tried using it as a conditioner in Junior High School after one of my "friends" told me how fabulous it was.

Could not get it out and I had to go to spend an entire day with icky, sticky hair.

That was 41 years ago.

I am still emotionally scarred.

Yeah bananas can work too.

For a banana one, I would use coconut oil, banana, honey (just a bit), and an egg.

Same recipe as the avacado one, and I have tried both and they work amazingly.

Especially on very dry, processed, colored hair. Take for example my hair in the photos below. Yes, it is my hair, not extentions or anything like that, and yes I had to bleach it with 50 weight to get it light enough to be able to see the pink coloring. I used the avacado mask on it every week for 3 months, before it got shiney and nice again. If you look close, you can see the organic coconut jar on the sink, lol!
