Any camping families on here? We have a travel trailer and enjoy camping. We left our camping group back in CO though. So we would like to find other families with children who enjoy camping. Our kids are 2 younger boys going into 1st and 4th and our daughter will be going into 8th grade. I teach and DH is at LAFB doing fire. Send me a PM and maybe we can get to know each other!

nobody camps huh? ahhh...bummer. We loved grabbing the camper and just heading to the mountains back in CO and spending time with good company enjoying mother nature. Granted, here you go to a campground and enjoy the birds...but still.

Well I am not sure you can call it camping but we RV allot...LOL...The wife and I are only semi-retired for now but we are still able to travel about half of the year in our class A....

If you are looking for a campground to meet up with allot of the local campers, Indian Cove is a private campground here at the beach down by Sandbridge that sells deeded ownerships (not deeded lots) and it is mainly just local campers from the Hampton Roads area both young and old. Many of the sites are waterfront with direct access to Back Bay and beyond so watercraft are also very popular there....Could be something your family might want to check into....They give free tours of the campground most weekends if you give them a call...

Thanks rt. I don't know if we would do deeded ownerships...its a completely different concept than we are used to. Coming in from CO, I am still adjusting to paying for camping! We used to use BLM and federal land to camp--free and dry camping.
We don't camp for real either. Our Keystone Cougar is far from roughing it- remote start generator too.
Was hoping to meet a camping family so we could go together. You all would have to bring grandkids for us! LOL
Still adjusting to water sports too...going to take some time to continue adjusting to life out here.

I HATE camping, but we went to North Landing Beach Campground for a function. It was nice, and they rent cabins with everything you need. Yes I know that's not really camping, but like I said I don't camp. It was really nice though.

There are many RVing boards where people meet up for different reasons, mainly get togethers of course. Our Heartland site has many of those. I just like meeting people, no plans, no dates. It's more fun that way.

Thanks for the post. We are learning more from the campers who rent our camper too. (Following Dave Ramsey and renting our camper to get radical! $100/night.) So slowly we are learning more about camping on the east coast, where to go, who to go with. Thanks for your posts and suggestions.

Really? Oh, I couldn't imagine anyone else sleeping in our bed, but if you're getting good money when your're not using it, that's cool.

Really Erma? That surprises me but understandable. Does this mean you never travel then? I mean, with that line of thinking, you hate hotels or staying at people's houses overnight.
And considering we are renting it for $100/night and its a large 33 foot travel trailer that sleeps 8, has two slides, and a 2007 model- we are making a bit of money. Our monthly payment on it is about $450 so other people are making our payment for us. Since it is so large and heavy, we deliver it, set it up, etc as long as they reimburse us for gas. So far, we are making lots of friends and don't run it as a business because it is so cheap...gotta build relationships! Companies who rent their camper ask for a large deposit and charge much more than we do and we know we are a cheaper alternative to hotels.

Like I said, that's cool if you're making money. I couldn't rent our trailer out. We bought it for us...you don't have to explain why, but like I said, I couldn't do that.
