W&M is known as one of the "Public Ivy League" schools. UVA, Michigan, Cal, Miami, UNC, Texas, and Vermont are the others.

It sure is. They can "wanna be" all they want to, but I would rather have that degree than none at all.

Very true...but so many have degrees but lack the experience and don't know a thing, and then after all those degrees and life experience, you realize you really don't know jack. I am certain I don't know jack or jill with the amount of experience and number of degrees I have (EMTRAK- you win )

I am assuming that this lyric fits you well

"You spend your time sitting in circles with your friends, pontificating to each other, forever competing for that one moment of self aggrandizing glory in which you hog the intellectual spotlight, holding dominion over the entire SHALLOW....POINTLESS...conversation. Oh we're not worthy."

Go be a bitter billy elsewhere sorry you don't live in your utopia of CS, but really you paint yourself be a very unattractive person personality wise.

You come here asking all sorts of questions about HR, yet already seem to love and be an expert on the place yourself and dump on people that actually do live here implying they don't know what they're talking about or their opinion doesn't count because it isn't positive about the area.

Smells fishy to me.

I don't know if W&M wants to be an Ivy League school; I thinking it was more of a marketing ploy. I agree that it is not the best tactic and believe it actually degrades the schools integrity a little bit. W&M has enough integrity to stand on its own merit.

The obvious point of the tactic is to prop up those schools to state they are just as good as the Ivy League. There is another list that includes Private Schools such as Standford, Duke, and Notre Dame. With the college ranking system being a vital part for college recruitment, schools need a way to market themselves above the rest. The very idea that colleges/universities can or should be ranked is preposterous, but I understand the reasoning behind the concept.

They should just say, "Here are the schools that look the most impressive on a resume". W&M is one of them.

Only reason I dumped on them was because they were off the subject I asked about. I want to hear the good and bad about living there not how much experience and education the have on entering data.
