This year my family of 4 is spending the holidays in a hotel room. Where is a good place to get a Thanksgiving meal in Hampton Roads this year?

Hi! I'm new to the area so do not know the exact locations to go but some ideas are to get a prepared dinner at a grocery store, normally they cost anywhere from $25-50 for a turkey breast and sides, or if you want the cheaper version, maybe Boston Market.

It's tough spending T-Day in a hotel room. I should know - I'll be doing the same! =)

Lots of buffets going on if you don't want to eat in a hotel.

Tradewinds @ Virginia Beach Resort Hotel has a decent holiday buffet with good service and a nice view. We did the Mothers Day brunch at the Hilton and it was not what I expect for $40 pp. Not much selection and bad service in a dismal banquet room with the tables crammed too close together. And any buffet I've ever paid that much for has included mimosas. At the Hilton, they were about $6, I think.
I had the Christmas brunch at Founders Inn and it was excellent, but I have a problem with the Pat Robertson connection.
They are also doing a Thanksgiving buffet at Mahi Mah's and McCormick and Schmick's.

We have had Tday dinner at Cracker Barrel and The Golden Corral before. Actually preferred the Golden Corral believe it or not. You got turkey and ham with all of the fixings, salad, desserts, etc.

Golden Corral is good, but you have to find the right locations. The one on Independence is good, but the one on Volvo in Chesapeake is by far the better ones that I've been to.

Never eaten at the Volvo location but the one in Red Mill was really good a few years ago.

I have heard that the one on Volvo parkway in Chesapeake is a good location. We go to the one in Newport News by the Sams Club, Home Depot and Lowes.

I second Boston Market, think that is what we are going to have too. We did it last year on the way up to DC and it was pretty good, lots of food but long line.

I have always heard good thing about Founders Inn but I have the same sentiment about Pat R. I have never been to FI and hated going to Regent to use their law library just b/c of his association. Not only is he a nut in my opinion, I've heard he is just not a nice person in general. My friend waited on him once at a restaurant in Chesapeake and she said he was so rude to her and acted like a complete a-hole towards her.

I don't really have any suggestions as far as restaurants for T-Day. I've been out of the area so long now, my recommendations may not even be relevant.
