Hi everyone,

Do you have any thoughts on driving from VB to Baltimore on either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning? I feel like I95 is quicker than taking the eastern shore, but eastern shore is probably a safer bet, right?

Is traffic normally terrible getting through the tunnels if I take 95 wednesday night (6ish)?

Thanks for your advice!

I was having a conversation similar to this at work today only from VB to Pittsburgh. We'll be leaving around 6 too. Guess at least one other person will be on 95

I was told by friends it's not usually that bad around that time, but I remember trying to leave town one year on the 3th of July, and it took us several hours just to get through the tunnel. We're going to check the traffic cameras before we go, and possibly take the M&M.

Heading "Home" to Pittsburgh? Where to? Just curious - we moved here from Butler 13+ years ago...

I'm actually from here, weird for the area I know, but I have a lot of family up there. We'll be in the Robinson township area. What's the best way you've found to get there? We're taking 95/17/66/81/522/70/76.

Very cool! We usually just take 81 to 70, other than that, everything else is the same. Occasionally, we'll mix it up and take 70 to 68 (across WV & MD) and then up 79. Hope you have a great (and safe!) trip!!

Thanks, Spazkat,

I'm thinking we may end up leaving early thursday instead so we can avoid the tunnel traffic.

Traffic going through the HRBT around 6 pm on a 'regular' evening is usually backed up to near Granby. Going on the evening before a Holiday, when just about everyone else will be hitting the roads is pretty much assured that you're going to hit a lot of traffic.

Going the Eastern Shore is actually quicker, especially to avoid the jam that you're going to run into in the NoVa/DC area where everyone on 95 is going to bottleneck.

My spouse travels North quite frequently and even with us being in Yorktown, he still takes the Eastern Shore route to save time and headaches.

Agree! We always go the eastern shore route when heading north.
