Plus they have pretty good health insurance. NN and Hampton are less expensive than the south side too. You'll find something. Good Luck.

trying to get an idea of what are the areas like. i dont really know the area and i cant firgure out what are good areas and what is worth the money. please give me some ideas of areas, streeets...something!

I'm interested as well because either there's some real hidden gems out there, or my definition of a bad area and other people's definition of a bad area are two totally opposite things.

Default Advice

The best advice I got when we moved here was to stay north of the numbered streets & Mercury. Between Hilton & Denbigh would be your best bet.

The areas directly outside of NG shipbuilding is straight up hood, and your probably bound to be mugged one day if you live around there. Areas norther of Mercury would be better in Newport News. There is also a nice area in Hampton where a lot of employees live at also.
