Thinking about moving to Norfolk - I am just curious about a few things
1. are the schools good and do they wear uniforms?
2. Jobs- I am a human service major and will graduate this winter.
3. My husband has had all kinds of jobs how is the employment rate generally?

I am from VT and we currently live in SC. We would really like to move somewhere near the ocean/bay still have our warm summers and have some snow in the winter. Any info would be great. We are also planning on coming up next weekend for my birthday so any suggestions on things to do would be good also.

1. Most don't think the schools in Norfolk proper are good. However nearby Virginia Beach and Chesapeake have school systems that are considered good in respect to their cities size and demographics. There is no uniform policy I know of.
2. Jobs can be hard to come by for non-military affiliated folks.
3. Refer to #2 and add this. The rate is halfway decent but the wages are the real problem in Hampton Roads. The wages are low relative to the cost of housing. The housing was very affordable in the early 2000s that changed but wages didnt keep up.

Several of the lower and middle schools in Norfolk have uniform policies if I am not mistaken but if good quality schools are high on your list I would by-pass the city of Norfolk and look at either Virginia Beach or Chesapeake as a city to relocate to as the school systems are much better in those cities compared to Norfolk.
As far as the job market it is hit and miss just like most places in the U.S. right now so I would not think about relocating until you both have secure jobs lined up in the area

I'm not sure how you could be a Realtor and not know or say anything about North Suffolk.

I was thinking the same thing, North Suffolk is practically the new downtown with all the businesses popping up.

I apologize if I offended anyone. Please elaborate on these businesses, jobs and your view etc. I should have provided a resource such as the City Profile and Statistical Digest
