I'm ready for the Tide and can't wait until it is extended from Norfolk to the Oceanfront and all areas in between.

I think it's a great idea in theory...but since the same people that currently ride the city buses will probably ride the rail...doubt I will ever ride it. They gotta come up with a way to ensure the clientele feel safe!

you make it sound like a bunch of criminals ride the buses. It's people who can't afford vehicles and insurance, honest and hardworking folks. why must this always sound like Death Wish movies? In the "big brother is watching" world we live in today, do you really think that there won't be surveillance?

I know what your talking about,

trains are different than buses.. even in NYC, the richer ride the rail and the poorer ride the busses. Your telling me you wouldn't ride light rail from wherever you live to the oceanfront, even if a few poorer people were riding with you? I ride HRT sometimes, nobody bothers with you. They just look like they would.

Theres supposed to be cameras at both stations and on board, even the busses have survelliance.. Every train will have a policeman on board that will be paid for by HRT. Stations will be well lit, overall the train will be quite safe.

I hear ya. When my son started college and didn't have a car yet, he and I rode the route together on the bus. I did not encounter one person of interest and the elderly folks were quite nice. I believe it would help out the military community as well, do away with parking problems and help out during rush hour traffic.
