We recently moved into an apartment complex in Virginia Beach and were lied to about everything from the beginning. We had to rent this apartment over the internet due to a short notice before we needed to move from out of state. We have been here two weeks and had to have our air conditioning and heat fixed as well as our oven. Our neighbor just filled us in today that a fire started in our unit six months ago and our entire house plus two next to it were completely burned. The apartment did not disclose this information to us before move in. I know that if selling it needs to be disclosed but I dont know the rules for rentals. Is this grounds for being let out of our lease?

No, as long as the inspector gave it a go, they don't have to tell you. A/C and such are pretty common things that need repair.
