I went with my wife 2 years ago. It was great. Many international ships will be there and it is a real good time on the water with food, drinks, and music.

The Parades of Sail
Sea and Air Parade of Sail - Wednesday, June 6
This parade includes the international fleet of naval vessels as well as other government and private organizations. The route passes from the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay into downtown Norfolk. The first ships will pass Town Point Park in downtown Norfolk at noon.
Tall Ship Parade of Sail - Friday, June 8
Starts at 7am. The tall ship fleet will parade from Lynnhaven Roads anchorage past Fort Monroe, then up the Elizabeth River to downtown Norfolk. The first ships will reach Town Point Park in downtown Norfolk around noon.
Parade of Sail up the Chesapeake Bay - Tuesday, June 12
The fleet of tall ships will proceed out of the Elizabeth River, past Fort Monroe in Hampton and turn northward in the Chesapeake Bay toward the next port of call in Baltimore. The fleet will maintain a speed of 6 knots. Recreational boaters, yacht clubs and charter vessels are encouraged to participate by sailing alongside.
Ships docked in Norfolk will be open for public visits between noon - 8pm, but times will vary among ships. For the most up to date information, visit the OpSail 2012 website
