I've sled on far steeper hills. But then again, Virginia Beach is a much larger city. I could see why its closed; plus the negative publicity they had to endure.

Trashmore mentioned a lot as a place to see in Virginia Beach, so I figure it must be interesting.

What do you guys think of this place? Something to take visitors to, or just an artifact from another era that you don't think about one way or the other?

Are some features better than others? If you had a chance to redesign it, what changes would you make? Does it need a new name? Etc.
I like it fine, it is a great place for a family to spend the day. The skate park is great, jogging paths are good, the hills are fun to run up and down, the top is great for flying kites, and the play area is great for kids.

I wouldn't consider it much of a tourist attraction, just a nice place for locals to hang out with friends and family. No need to change it or rename it, I think it is fine the way it is.

One of these days they are supposed to make Mount Trashmore 2 by Cityview park. That thing will be huge and I heard that they want to make a sledding area... but that has been talked about forever so I will believe it when I see it.

As far as I know VB only has the one off of Centerville near Regent University, Im not sure what the other cities do but I'm sure their city websites would have that info.

You can drive by and see it. It's not open yet, but you can see it.

LOL well there's always going to be a group that would find a name like that unappealing. Then again, there are people like me who find it amusing, especially because it's 70s retro. It's groovy, man.

Yeah you can see it for sure, it is bigger than the Mount Trashmore already I think, but it is still an active landfill. I just took some yard waste over there the other day.

I would imagine that the city needs to find a new landfill site before they can close this one down and make a park out of it... and I don't know where in Virginia Beach that new site would be.

I'm not sure. Maybe they'll use the big one off of 58? I does look bigger than Trashmore for sure. It is scheduled to open in 2015, so they still have a little time.
