Hey all, One of my friends is about to have a birthday and we were thinking about kicking it at the beach. Does anyone know of a good beach to have a cookout at where people can bring a little charcoal grill or something? Obviously, this would most likely be away from the main tourist spots and relatively low population if possible. Does such a thing exist or is such a thing allowed anymore?

Sandbridge Beach bro. I think Little Island Park is very cool, and I think on the water, if I remember correctly.

Or Chick's Beach in a less populated spot.

Little island has grills at the shelters, but the shelters are on the non ocean side of the dunes. Still they are on the beach though.

Im pretty sure you cannot grill on the beaches in Virginia Beach. You can grill at designated areas in parks near the beach or at campgrounds near the beach but you cannot go setup your personal grill on the beach and have a cookout.

This says that grilling and fires are not allowed on park beaches.

http://www.vbgov.com/government/depa...park-rules.pdf

Also, City Ordinance 12-5 says:

It shall be unlawful and a Class 1 misdemeanor for any person to set fire to or to procure another to set fire to any wood, brush, logs, leaves, grass, debris or other flammable material at any time on any sand beach of the city.

Come to Williamsburg and try out the beach at Jamestown. Picnic tables under the trees within a hundred feet of the beach. You can use the park’s charcoal grills to prepare your favorite summer foods in a shaded picnic area. The park is located at 2205 Jamestown Road next to the Jamestown Ferry.

I know it gets packed there, but it is a cool beach!

Like was said Little Island park in Sandbridge is a great option for you in a City Park on the water.

Most certainly a cool beach...but for cookouts, I vote for Sandbridge.

You might try the beaches at Fort Monroe - plus the museum and sites at Fort Monroe are cool.
