I am considering a relocation to the Norfolk area. I am a single mom with an 18 year old and 20 year old - both would be in community college. If I do decide to take the job, which is in Norfolk, are there any decent waterfront areas to rent in? I either want to be on the beach or have a house with water access behind it for under 2400 per month. Is this possible? Are there any areas you would recommend?
I see a lot of relocation threads but none specifically for waterfront areas. I am forced to rent since I already own 2 other houses in NC. Once I sell at least one I can look at buying. Thanks to all for your advice.

Why don't you go on this website:

Homes for Rent in Norfolk - Rental Homes in Virginia

If you open the "Property Features" menu, you can specify waterfront.

It looks like you would have an easier time finding waterfront in Virginia Beach based on a quick search I did.

Good luck.
