I am a single male in my 20's, not in the military, moving to the area for work. I like to go out and meet new people at the bars and like an outgoing type of scene. Which area is better for this type of lifestyle? Ive heard mixed reviews about both but I feel like the beach scene would be terrible in the offseason...

Yeah, I agree with Coconut & Octa....definitely Ghent. Chick's Beach is also another area you might want to consider.

Ghent is a very specific area of norfolk while you didn't mention any specific area within VB...

Within VB, I'd guess only Chick's Beach would meet your year round needs since it's mostly locals...

Some additional questions are you looking to buy property and if so what's your price range? Do you care about your commute and if so where will you be working?

Thanks for the feedback... my apologies, I didnt give enough specifics.. I meant Chicks Beach when I said "VB" and also I am working in outside sales throughout the entire region so commute isnt a huge deal. I am just nervous that a place like Chicks beach would be lame during the winter or does it not matter? Is there a lot going on in Ghent area on weekend nights such as a good bar scene? To be honest I am a single guy and want to have an area that has plenty of bars and outdoor events that I can meet people, without having to drive all over the place. My price range would be 1200-1600. Thx!

Definitely Ghent if for no other reason, they'll be more people closer to your age. There aren't that many bars yet you're connected to downtown so you get the best of both worlds...Ghent was pretty dead this past Saturday night but school hasn't started either...
