Hi everyone,

Lil bout myself.

I'm born and raised in Buffalo, NY (yeah i know...it's everything you think it is!). I have always loved the ocean/beach etc. Love scuba diving etc. I've been looking to leave NY for some time now. I've been to VA beach on vacation etc. I am looking at purchasing a chiropractic practice in Va beach(Town Center). I will probably go down in a month or so to check the area out from a business stand point(not just a vacation weekend). Any pointers at where I should go around town, or any opinions will help thanks. I'm reading as many of the threads I can.

I would ensure you invest in eye-catching and sophisticated media (exterior decor, ads) to help you stand out to the TC clientele. VB is a megastripmallopolis and you will be in competition with molto chiro docs.

We VB natives don't like you New Yorkers coming down here. Most of you I've met have nasty attitudes.
You wouldn't like it here in VB(or HR for that matter). I've lived here for 40 years, and I'm leaving next year to a smaller city(like VB used to be when I was a kid).
It's all because of the worsening overcrowding, traffic, noise, boom cars, urban feel(gets worse every year since 1983), and because of the skyrocketing robberies and homocides over the past 4 years. Bad element and gangs are moving here from LA,Detroit,Pittsburgh PA,NYC,NORFOLK,PORTSMOUTH,NEWPORT NEWS,etc. And they hang out all over VB(even the upper class areas). I know, I've had people tell me that's who they were.I don't feel safe here anymore. And 99% of the women here are really ugly, and most of them are cold and aloof. If you're single and want to meet a woman, you won't find any worthy and desirable women here. People tell me I'm hot, nice, and really good-looking, but I'm still single and never married. I deserve better. This is a military town, and most of the military people tell me that they resent having to live here. So here for the most part there is a dominant and underlying negative attitude.
Yes, the ocean is nice(the only thing going for VB), but ask yourself if it's really worth it, having to deal with all the other BS. Most people with whom I've discussed this regret having moved here.
I wouldn't value your negative response and won't even read it, so don't waste your time. Since five years ago when I first started surfing the Internet, I've noticed how people love to bash other people's opinions in forums. Cowards. I never did that.

How old are you? Young? Single? I'd look elsewhere... this town isn't friendly for young, single men. That being said, if you're gay, you'd probably be better off in Ghent(Norfolk), it's actually quite a nice place to live and extremely tolerant and open-minded. There isn't much of a social scene for young people outside of a few small areas.

curiousjeff is a bit bitter but he's actually somewhat right about there being few, available, level-headed, decent women here. The male-to-female ratio is terrible due to the military and the women tend to know it. A 5 or 6 in a big city is an 8 or a 9 here(well, at least they act like it).

There's really not that much crime outside of a few bad areas.

All in all, I'd advise against living here unless you already have a family and plan on settling down. Unless you love the water, then this place is decent.

Speak for yourself! I have no issue with New Yorkers. BTW do you just copy and paste the same post over and over?

Yet, bashing the area and people from another city or state is perfectly cool. Gotcha.

You mean other for the times you've copy-and-pasted the same paragraph over and over again? No, there's nothing cowardly about writing making incendiary generalizations then saying you don't care about what others have to say. Of course, you've only been on the Internet for 5 years, so you wouldn't know that, now would you?

BTW, I'm a native too, and all the New Yorkers I know are cool. Maybe you're the one with the nasty attitude. No, that couldn't be it!

He's posted just 7 times and all 7 of them are the same rant in different threads - all bashing Virginia Beach. I think there's a policy against that in our Terms of Service here at CD.
