I'm a guy in my late 30's that has been self employed for pretty much the last six years. I will be moving back to the Hampton Roads area to be with my child, but I would like to know what temp agencies to check out and which ones to ignore. Seems like for my skill level I would be making around $10.00 hr. considering the current state of the job market which is understandable.

I don't have a complete college degree, but I have extensive office, marketing, sales and administrative experience. If nothing else is available in the meantime I would be willing to look at industrial or general labor positions too until I find something better. Oh yeah, I will be getting around on public transportation for the first few months. Any info is appreciated.

When I lost my job last April, I went to a few places, but didn't have much luck. But my background is also PR/media, and everywhere I admitted it would be tough for me, compared to light office work.

I guess it all depends on where you're going to live, but most of the places are in VB and Chesapeake. I went to Remedy Staffing, which is off Greenwich Road, Pro Temps near Mount Trashmore, and another place in Greenbrier that escapes me. It's in the office park off Volvo Parkway. I know some agencies have more than one branch on both the Southside and the Peninsula.
