Last I heard Dollar Tree was pursuing developing on the land they own in Chesapeake and creating an urban center with a possible high-rise. But aside from the new mid-rise apartment complex behind the Target at Greenbrier I haven't seen or heard anything about Chesapeake for several years now.

It's so difficult to get financing right now for large scale developments.

Developers are hoping to expand the Oakbrooke Business & Technology Center in Chesapeake and build a residential community with a grocery-anchored shopping center on 121.32 acres between Kempsville Road and Clearfield Avenue.The proposed Oakbrooke project calls for construction of 264 apartments and 120 condominiums east of the shopping center.
