My family and I will be relocating to Virginia. We don't want to live in base housing and we just found out my husband will be working in Suffolk va, (area code 23435).

Can anyone please give me some information about the area. We have 4 kids and 2 of them are in elementary school so any recommendation on schools would be great too.

We don't want to live in a area where there is a lot going on all time time.

He was most likely be at JFCOM if he's in 23435. The largest development there is Harbor View which is a nice place to live. Specifically you would want to get into the Riverfront area (Harbor View is the area but there are many different neighborhoods throughout the development)

You have restaurants, a few supermarkets (Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Wal-Mart and a Farm Fresh) close by, some shopping (TJ Maxx, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohls, Petsmart, etc.) as well as a movie theater and lots of medical offices.

I don't consider any of that as a lot going on, but if you do you might want to look at Smithfield or Isle of Wight. Both are fairly close to Suffolk and offer an even more rural lifestyle.

No kids so I can't help with schools.

I work out there and the Churchland area is just down the road. It's building up quite a bit. A fella I work with has his childrent going to Isle of Wight elementary school. It's a nice area building up rapidly. New apartment / condo complexes going up.
