Moving to the area, have to commute to Norfolk everyday. I was looking at living in either Norfolk or Virginia beach, or Chesapeake. Have a family so which area is more family oriented? My child will attend private school so my only issue is safety.

Virginia Beach is probably as safe as you're going to get, though Chesapeake is for the most part. All areas are going to have their good and bad parts though.

Chesapeake is one of the fastest growing cities in Virginia, and should be a bit cheaper than Virginia Beach.

Depends on what school you are going to send them to. You wouldn't want to send them to Cape Henery and live in Westeren Breanch. Actually working in Norfolk I'd rule out Westeren Branch because of the tunnels.
