Looking into retirement and small business ownership on CI, we are well aware of life there in the busy season, but what about between November and April? Are there many full time residents, how many shops and restaurants remain open to the public, do any travelers come there in the off season and spend money? Is it as dead as we fear it may be? Thank you.

My fiancee's father lives/works there during the week and on the weekends comes home to Harford Co, MD.

We just visited this past weekend and it was pretty shut down. I think we only saw maybe 10 shops open one on end.

We are looking at buying a home there for a vacation spot and a "get away" house and a short-term rental for people we know who are vacationing.

A short drive (ok, not THAT short) and you are back on US13 near Walmarts and other major places.

It is much better in the off season. Everything is still open and not as hot or crowded.
