Hi. I live up in Northern VA and we are going to be in Chesapeake visiting family over my son's 6th birthday. We will be celebrating down there with them in July. I have been trying to find a good bakery online that can make a cake for my son (he loves batman), and I'm not having a lot of luck. There was one lady who is licensed to make cakes out of her home but she will be taking a vacation during the time we will be there (over 4th of July weekend). I have found a couple other bakeries but they are either too expensive, or they just didn't look all that great from their website. I do not want to use a grocery store because honestly those cakes are just gross (I used to work in a grocery store bakery). I'm not looking for a pre made frozen cake that is thawed out. I'm looking for a very nice cake that is made in the bakery. I'm looking to spend $50 to $100. I would prefer it be in Chesapeake so we don't have to drive too far to pick it up, but I understand if that's not possible. So, if you know of a really great bakery please let me know. I know it's early to be thinking of this but he was born close to the holiday (July 5th) and bakeries are always either closed or busy, so I always have to look ahead of time.

Thanks!

I've only used one in the area, and that was a long time ago. But the cake was good and everyone thought it was great.

The only caveat is they are in Virginia Beach - Sugar Plum Bakery.

Bliss Bakery has good cakes, but to tell you the truth Farm Fresh has really good cakes. That's where we go. My ds loves their cupcake cakes.

Yes it's grocery store, but it's more upscale than let's say Food Lion. You can get cupcake cakes cakes. My son loves them, and I like that I don't have to cut the cake lol. All of the kids my son knows get their cakes from Farm Fresh. I like the whipped cream cheese icing YUMMY!!!! You can get the cupcakes multiple flavors to suit your needs. Bliss in in VA Beach, but they are $$.
