Hi, I will be in the Norfolk area for a few days in the beginning of June. I really enjoy botanical gardens and I was planning on visiting one while I am here, but I just saw that Richmond has one also. Has anyone been to both Richmond and Norfolk Botanical Gardens and which one would you say is better? I don't want to visit two botanical gardens in really short time span during my trip. Thanks for any input.

I cannot give you a comparison based on visits to both place. But both Yelp & Trip Advisor have many reviews of both places. You may want to read those. Here are the Yelp reviews:

Norfolk Botanical Garden - Norfolk, VA

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden - Richmond, VA

I have not been to Richmond, but I used to live near the Norfolk B.G. and it is a GEM. Big but do-able in one visit, nice variety, well-maintained...love that place!

I'm sorry that I can't compare both, but I have to say that I think the Norfolk Botanical Garden is absolutely beautiful! It's big, it's peaceful, I enjoyed the fact that there was a tram to ride to just sit back and observe all of the areas. I've visited when I've been limited on time and I've been there when I have all day or more! It's one of the prettiest places I've ever seen.

Norfolk is way better than Richmond, but a bit pricy. You can always hit Maymont Park in Richmond too, not really a Botantical, but very close, and it is free.
