Hi all. I stay in Hampton Roads Virginia. Me and a couple friends want to go camping. We are going to be drinking and playing loud music so I am looking for somewhere to camp in the middle of nowhere. Its going to get wild. I dont want to see or hear anyone at all. Period. If I scream really loudly I dont want anyone to hear me for miles. Im willing to drive about an hour and 30 minutes in any direction from Norfolk.

Ideally I want to park the car and hike in about 3 - 4 miles MAX.

I dont care about facilities or any of that stuff at all. Just looking for some woods where me and a couple buddies can get away from civilization for a day or 2.

Seclusion is the main thing here.

Hmmm...Tidewater region of VA isn't particularly known for it's secluded camping amenities, I've always done mine in Shenandoah and the GW/TJ National Forests further west and north.

May be a bit more than a 1.5 hour drive but I remember doing an overnight geology field trip in college on Paramore Island I think it was on the Eastern Shore that was pretty uninhabited...not sure if they let your "average Joe" camp there.

Also, while not glamorous, what about the Great Dismal Swamp? Can't imagine too many people stay there overnight, if allowed...

Lastly, I think there are a few state parks along the beach at the VA/NC border, north of the fancy OBX beach houses in Corolla/Duck...could have cheap dune camping access but not sure of the legality/enforcement of alcohol there.
