I hate it here its boring the food is mostly all seafood and everyone's middle class. The people drive really slow and the red lights are too long! No one knows who the singer Beck is here! Everybody here likes country music! Im from Queens NY and my parents joined the trend of New Yorkers Moving to Va Beach Va We moved to Virginia Beach VA on July 1 2012. I really want to move back to New York or move to Los Angeles CA its so much more fun over there! Va Beach blvd is mostly just strip malls! The music scene is terrible here!

Someone from a northern urban area probably wouldn't fit in. Someone from a northern suburb might fit in. I'm the second type and when I visit my sister there (who doesn't quite fit in) I enjoy the rather boring blandness of it and not much more. You're right that there are no or few decent places to eat, just chains and junk food places mostly. I don't think I could take country and western music either but being older, I just listen to oldies anyway.

I live in Virginia Beach and I know who Beck is. I know The Decemberists, Band of Horses, Miike Snow, Passion Pit, Matt and Kim, etc. Never listen to country unless you consider The Avett Brothers as more country than folk or if you consider Lucero more country than rock with a bit of country rockabilly infusion. In fact, they're about to play at the hilltop Jew-Ma in March.

so?

As Someone who's from VB and now living in Los Angeles I gotta warn you there's alot of endless strip malls out here too, but the difference in climate, terrain, scenery and culture seem to make up for that though....My point is I don't think people that are used to NY will really like LA either just my $.02

You could go hang out with the hipsters in Ghent...

http://www.altdaily.com/

Or you could take the CBBT or just go 64West to 95North should take 6 to 7 hours if there is no traffic. Maybe less since you drive faster than us.

I agree with part of where Lindsey's going, but I think the people are probably nicer here than in NY.

I want to be around people who are nice and don't look down on each other. I never really had that feeling here.

I have Beck's Odelay CD somewhere around but I actually like Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode, New Order, and a ton of '80s and a lot of '90s music. Where can I find all the '80s holdouts living???

P.S.

Also not much action going on here in Hampton Roads barely any movies are filmed here and pretty much Va Beach is a huge middle class suburban check out Kempsville and you will see only houses and strip malls!

Normally, I wouldn't agree with telling someone to "move", but in this case that might be the best thing. In looking at your other posts, your mind is made up about this area and all you can see are the negatives. That's too bad because there is a lot of good about living in this area but at this point, it sounds like your opinions can't be changed.

You sound like a little girl having a temper tantrum, and, frankly, that's not cool anywhere.

I'm assuming you're not college age yet? If that's the case, you should explore the possibility of moving out of state for college (or possibly the DC metro area where you might find a pace of life more in keeping with what you're looking for). If you're beyond college and sticking around because of your parents (either because you're emotionally or financially dependent), then don't. Improve your job skills to the point where you can live independently or sign up for Skype and move on. The world is a big, big place and there's no point sticking around an area that makes you miserable.

So stop whining and do something to improve your situation.
