From my perspective, folks coming from the south to Hampton Roads would say it is Mid Atlantic while folks coming from the north tend to consider it the south. But yes Virginia (is a Mid Atlantic state) and is southern as well though much less so than in the northern part of the state.

Mid Atlantic but mild southern, especially with the deep history of the area. You have seven cities here so you get a variety of north and south. Parts of Tidewater feels like you're in Baltimore. Then you have your areas which could easily be mistaken for Greenville, SC lol.

I'm not exactly sure why but imo the Peninsula has a very different feel from the Soutside. This is just my opinion.

Mid Atlantic is Southern, depending on who you ask.

The only place in Virginia that can be identified as the mid-Atlantic geographically is northern Virginia. Virginia beach is way below the Mason-Dixon Line. Not even that close, the only somewhat northern thing about it is it's transplants. Are you guys going to start saying atlanta is the mid Atlantic too? come on really.

Someone is a little too offended and had way too much time on their hands. I know midatlantic isn't northern but the midatlantic has a lot of northern qualities is which I meant by it. By my point is Hampton roads isn't mid-Atlantic and neither is the state of Virginia

Definition of midatlantic -
of or relating to states on the middle Atlantic coast of the US, typically including New York, Pennsylvannia, New Jersey, West Virginia, Delaware, and Maryland.
Please learn and educate yourself before you open your mouth. Virginia is historically and geographically the south. Sorry to break it to you but just because you have military bases and a little bit of transplants doesn't make you the mid Atlantic.

I was taught VA was included in the MidAtlantic states. Several Googling of this confirms Virginia being the most southernmost state although I have heard even NC is sometimes included as well.
